“What exactly happens if there’s a fire at a wind farm?” “And how do you actually generate electricity from wind?” These were just a few of the questions the students asked us on Future Day 2026. Together with wpd GmbH and Deutsche Windtechnik, we gave the 11- to 15-year-olds interested in wind energy a behind-the-scenes look at our operations.
The students visited our control room, learned how wind is converted into electricity, and even took part in a live conversation with a service team up in a wind turbine.
It was wonderful to see how interested and enthusiastic the children were about renewable energy and our daily work. When the next generation approaches the topic of energy with such awareness and passion, our industry is in good hands.
And who knows, maybe in a few years they’ll even come back to join us as part of the windmanager team. We’d be delighted.
