Access Control System for Wind Farms

2. Februar 2021

wpd windmanager and the Reinbek-based company TIMM, which specializes in industrial security technology, have equipped the Hambergen wind farm with the IntelliLock intelligent access control system. The retrofit enables wpd windmanager to digitally define and control access rights to the Lower Saxony wind farm with 7 Enercon E101 turbines. The system offers wind farm operators the possibility to fulfill their operator responsibilities more easily and efficiently than before. TIMM has developed the system with the support of wpd windmanager.

Access Control System: More Security and More Flexibility

Oliver Klausch, Head of Field Service at wpd windmanager: „With digital access control, we achieve a higher level of security than before thanks to the integrated alarm messages and real-time monitoring of access. At the same time, we gain more flexibility in operations. For example, we can enable remote access to facilities and limit access authorizations in terms of time or to individual facilities. Last but not least, we are also digitizing and simplifying operational processes such as key management.“

„We have already been serving the access control topic in other sectors of the energy industry for a long time. We expect digital systems to become standard in the wind industry as well in the future. The advantages that can be achieved in the management of distributed infrastructures with them are enormous. With IntelliLock, we have therefore developed a solution that is precisely tailored to the needs of wind farm operators,“ says Dominik Eisenbeis, Head of Sales and Product Management at TIMM.
