Two New Finnish Wind Farms of Prime Capital2 August 2018
Besides Germany, the main target markets of wpd windmanager GmbH & Co. KG are France, Taiwan and Finland. In Finland alone, the Bremen-based company manages ten wind farms so far with a total capacity of around 280 MW.
As of July 1, 2018, wpd windmanager takes over the commercial and technical operations management for two new wind farm projects of Prime Capital AG. Currently, wpd windmanager is already in charge of the technical management of Prime Capital’s wind farm Etelänkyla. With Huikku and Karhusaari two more wind farms follow. “We are happy to cooperate with wpd windmanager in the Finnish wind market”, states Christian Topp, Head of Infrastructure at Prime Capital AG. “Being one of the leading asset managers in the European renewable energy market we acquired various wind farms of different sizes especially in Scandinavia throughout the past quarters. In Finland we already experienced sound cooperation with wpd windmanager for our wind farm in Etelänkyla. Therefore, they were our first choice for these Finnish projects – also because of their well-connected location in Oulu.”
As of now, wpd windmanager manages twelve Finnish wind farms and obtains a market share of thirteen per cent. “Our non-domestic market activities become more and more important for us“, says Henning Rüpke, Technical Management at wpd windmanager. “Therefore we are happy to strengthen our position in the Finnish market and expand our good business relationship with Prime Capital.” For the wind farm Huikku, located in the ferry port of the island Hailuoto right in front of Oulu, wpd windmanager takes over the management of a Vestas V90 turbine with 2 MW. For the wind farm Karhusaari, located in the port of Kristinestad between Vaasa and Pori, the technical management will take care of the Vestas V126 turbine with 3.45 MW.
